Avar the Bestial Claw is an enemy in Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent: Side Solistia. He is the mid-boss of The Chosen One's Chapter VIII.

Battle[]

  • Let's start this the right way!: Start of battle. Impart self with permanent Buff Intercept Phys. CotC Repel Phys. (The target will counter physical damage) and File:Buff Ignore Evasion CotC.png Ignore Evasion (The target will inflict a guaranteed hit, ignoring evading effects). Grant staff, fan, lightning and dark weaknesses (Type StavesType FansType LightningType Dark to self (times: 7). Counters with Impact Strike.
    • Impact Strike - Deal physical damage to single target.
  • Blast Shock -
  • Piercing Nasal Flame - Deal Type Fire damage to single target. Inflict Status Combust CotC Combust (The traveler will take further elemental damage at the end of their turn) with every attack for 3 turns.
  • Stomp Shock - Deal physical damage to single target 2 time(s).
  • Wild Stomp - Deal physical damage to random target 3 time(s).
  • Wild Nasal Flame - Deal Type Fire damage to random target 3 time(s). Inflict Status Combust CotC Combust (The traveler will take further elemental damage at the end of their turn) with every attack for 3 turns.
  • Fierce Combo Stomp - Deal physical damage to Front. Forcibly switch Front traveler(s) for the Back one(s). Traveler(s) acting after being hit by the attack will slip and fall, missing their turn.
  • Formidable Nasal Flame -
  • Piercing Nasal Flame - Deal Type Fire damage to Front. Inflict Status Combust CotC Combust (The traveler will take further elemental damage at the end of their turn) for 3 turns.
  • Fiery Stomp Dance - At full BP. Deal Type Axes damage to Front 2 time(s). Forcibly switch Front traveler(s) for the Back one(s), then deal Type Fire damage to Front 2 time(s).
  • We're just getting started!: At 90% HP or less. Permanently increases his actions per turn to two.
  • Now the real fight begins!: At 60% HP or less. Permanently increases his actions per turn to three.
  • I said the RIGHT WAY!: When recovering from a break. Impart self with permanent Buff Intercept Phys. CotC Repel Phys. (The target will counter physical damage). Grant staff, fan, lightning and dark weaknesses (Type SwordsType StavesType FansType LightningType Dark to self (times: 7). Counters with Impact Strike.
  • Now the right way!: When recovering from a break. Removes augmenting stats effects from all travelers.
  • Taste defeat!: Start of turn, after recovering from a break and, end of next turn after the effect wears off. Cast Status Countdown CotC Countdown  on self for 3 turns. Will use Infernal Skyfall Strike if not broken before the countdown's end.
    • Infernal Skyfall Strike - Deal overkill damage to single target.
